Auburn City Council forced to table proposed zoning update

The Auburn City Council tabled an ordinance that would have updated the city’s zoning code at its meeting Thursday.

New regulations would cover smoke shops

Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason says the council was forced to table the item because the Planning Board did not have a quorum for a public hearing on the zoning update last Tuesday.

He says the ordinance would make changes to cover situations that have come up since the last update five years ago, and would also put in place regulations covering the location and operation of cannabis-related businesses.

The public hearing has been rescheduled for the Planning Board’s October meeting and scheduled for a City Council vote at the October 6 council meeting.
