The Syracuse Mets held off the Rochester Red Wings, 5-4, on Saturday night at NBT Bank Stadium. After dropping the first two games in this six-game series, Syracuse has won three in a row.

Rochester jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third on Andrew Stevenson’s RBI triple and John Nogowski’s RBI double.

Syracuse answered in the bottom of the fourth. Daniel Palka put the Mets on the board with a run-scoring double. Later in the inning, Gosuke Katoh tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fifth, Dominic Smith crushed his sixth home run of the season to put Syracuse on top, 4-2.

The Mets added a huge insurance run in the bottom of the seventh on Nick Dini’s 10th home run.

However, the Red Wings did not go away quietly as Lucius Fox made it a one-run game with a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth. That was as close as Rochester would get as Syracuse reliever Trey Cobb was able to escape the jam and secure the save.

The week-long series will wrap up on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
