The New York Mets have placed outfielder Starling Marte on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to September 7) with a fractured right middle finger, the team announced Saturday.
In a corresponding move, New York has called up No. 7 prospect Mark Vientos from Triple-A Syracuse.
Marte was hit in the hand by Mitch Keller in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. The 33-year-old All-Star has slashed .292/.347/.468 with 16 home runs and 63 RBIs over 116 games this season.
Vientos, 22, has hit .280/.358/.519 with 24 homers, 16 doubles, and 72 RBIs over 101 games with Triple-A Syracuse this season. Defensively, Vientos has split time between third base and first base for Syracuse. Vientos will be available off the bench on Saturday against the Miami Marlins at LoanDepot park.
