The New York Yankees made more roster moves ahead of Friday’s massive three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays in the Bronx.
The team placed starting catcher Jose Trevino on the paternity list and recalled catcher Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Rortvedt was one of the players the Yankees acquired from the Minnesota Twins in the Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela trade. The 24-year-old has yet to play a game at the big-league level this season as he has dealt with several different injuries.
Rortvedt was slashing .294/.385/.647 with three home runs over his last 10 games at Triple-A.
