Syracuse Mets roll past Rochester Red Wings

The Syracuse Mets rolled past the Rochester Red Wings, 8-3, on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium. After dropping the first two games of the six-game series, Syracuse has won two in a row to even the series.

Rochester jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Mets responded with seven runs over the first three innings and never looked back.

Syracuse’s offense was led by Yolmer Sanchez, who drove in three runs. Mark Vientos crushed his 24th home run of the season, snapping a 12-game homerless streak. Travis Jankowski, Luis Guillorme, and JT Riddle also plated runs.

Jake Alu provided all of Rochester’s offense as he smacked his seventh home run and collected another RBI with a sacrifice fly.

Franklyn Kilome had a rough outing for the Red Wings as he surrendered seven of the eight runs over 2 1/3 innings. Jesus Vargas allowed a pair of runs over four innings for the Mets.

The week-long series will continue on Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
