The New York Mets fell to the Miami Marlins, 6-3, in the series opener on Friday night at LoanDepot Park. With the loss, New York has dropped four of their last six.
David Peterson started on the mound for the Mets and surrendered three runs on five hits over 3 2/ innings. Joely Rodríguez allowed the other two runs in relief.
Pete Alonso provided most of the offense for New York as he crushed a two-run home run, his 33rd of the season. Brandon Nimmo drove in the other run with an RBI single.
The Mets will try to bounce back and even the series on Saturday. The first pitch is set for 6:10 p.m.
