Have some stuff you want to get rid of? Have something that doesn’t work that you hope you can get more use out of? Want to turn someone else’s trash into your treasure? The town of Geneva has three events coming up for you.
Town will help senior citizens dispose of unwanted items
Thursday, the town holds a Senior Citizen Clean-Out Day. Geneva Town Supervisor Mark Venuti says it’s a chance for seniors to dispose of unwanted items that would be difficult for them to move.
Call the town office to see if any more slots are available.
Fix-it day and free stuff day are also popular
This Sunday from 9-noon, the popular fix-it clinic returns to the Town Highway Garage on White Springs Rd. Residents can bring in broken or non-working items and hopefully get them repaired by local handymen and women. Venuti says the clinics have kept items in service that would otherwise wind up in the waste stream.
That same day at the Highway Garage is Free Stuff Day. Residents can bring unwanted items to the Highway Garage from 10-noon, then look through the items and take home whatever strikes their fancy from noon-2. Usually, by the end of the day, everything’s gone.
Later this month, there will be a residential tire recycling event on September 17 and a mattress recycling event on the 24th.
