The Rochester Red Wings outlasted the Syracuse Mets, 15-8, on Wednesday night at NBT Bank Stadium. With the victory, Rochester has taken the first two games of this six-game series.
The Red Wings’ offense was led by Jake Alu, who homered twice and had five RBIs. Lucius Fox also played a big role as he smacked his fourth home run and drove in four runs. Nick Banks crushed his ninth homer while Andrew Stevenson plated a pair of runs.
Nick Dini belted a grand slam for the Mets, his ninth long ball of the season. Jake Mangum drove in the other three runs with a double.
Each team’s starting pitcher struggled. Patrick Murphy allowed six runs over 2 2/3 innings for Rochester, while Connor Grey surrendered four runs over 2 1/3 innings for Syracuse.
The week-long series will continue on Thursday at 6:35 p.m.
