Canandaigua man charged following hate crime

A Canandaigua man was arrested following a hate crime at a Park Avenue address.

The Canandaigua Police Department arrested Michael R. Phillips, 31, of Canandaigua for menacing and endangering the welfare of a child.

It was determined that Phillips had instigated a physical altercation in front of a child while making racist remarks. 

Phillips was remanded to the Ontario County Jail and is pending arraignment.
