What’s next for Magee FD buildings and assets? Tyre Town Board to hold special meeting September 29th

The town of Tyre has $2.8 million worth of assets from the former Magee Fire Department.

Now, the Town Board needs to determine what’s next for those assets.

A special board meeting is slated for September 29th at 6:30 p.m.

The Town Board will hear recommendations from its fire department committee on what it should do with the property and equipment going forward.

Last spring, State Attorney General Letitia James dissolved the Magee Fire Department.

The assets of the former fire department include two firehouses, fire vehicles, apparatus, and building contents. The Town also had to pay approximately $169,000 in outstanding unpaid bills and liens as part of the arrangement to obtain the assets.

The town has contracted with the Galen-Clyde Fire Department for fire protection services through 2023.
