One dead after UTV crash in Lewis County: Occupant wasn’t wearing helmet, state police say

State police are investigating a fatal UTV crash that happened on Wroth Road in Lewis County.

On Sunday around 4:24 p.m. a 2022 Can-Am Maverick UTV, operated by 21-year-old James Jobson-Wagar was traveling east on Worth Road when he lost control at a hill crest, exited the road, and struck a tree.


James was transported to Lewis County Hospital where he was then airlifted by LifeNet to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse where he was listed in critical condition.

On Monday, Jobson-Wagar succumbed to his injuries. During the investigation it was determined that he was not wearing a helmet or seatbelt prior to crash.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lewis County Search and Rescue.

The investigation remains active.
