The New York Mets’ offensive struggles continued on Tuesday night as they fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-2, in the series opener at PNC Park. With the loss, New York has dropped three straight and has scored just four runs during the skid.

Brandon Nimmo provided all of the offense as he crushed his 13th home run of the season in the top of the seventh inning. Aside from that, the Mets had six hits, with two coming from James McCann.

Taijuan Walker got the ball for New York and surrendered four runs on six hits over five innings while walking two and striking out three. Bryce Montes de Oca allowed three runs in relief, and Tommy Hunter gave up one.

The Mets and Pirates will play a day-night doubleheader on Wednesday, beginning at 12:35 p.m.
