The Rochester Red Wings fell to the Toledo Mud Hens, 5-2, on Saturday night at Frontier Field. With the loss, Rochester has dropped two straight and four of five.
The Red Wings handed the ball to Logan Verrett, who allowed four runs on six hits over seven innings while walking one and striking out four. Curtis Taylor followed Verrett in relief and surrendered a run. Luis Avilán struck out two in a scoreless inning.
Donovan Casey provided all of Rochester’s offense as he smoked an RBI double in the second inning and smacked an RBI single in the sixth. Aside from that, the team had five hits.
Toledo plated four of its five runs in the first two innings.
The six-game series wraps up on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. Daniel Ponce de Leon will start on the mound for the Red Wings.
