On Friday a little before 3 a.m. police say they responded to a third-party report of a domestic dispute on Cherry Street.
Responding officers were provided with information that the suspect involved may be in possession of a handgun.
Once on-scene officers located and attempted to interview the involved parties. During that investigation, the suspect was observed by police attempting to conceal an item near his waistband.
He then fled officers on foot. A perimeter was setup with support of other law enforcement agencies, during which a search for the suspect unfolded.
The suspect was not located. However, a loaded handgun was found.
The suspect’s name is not being released at this time. IPD was assisted by the sheriff’s office, New York State Police, Cayuga Heights Police Department, and K9 units from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office.
