The New York Mets blanked the Colorado Rockies, 3-0, on Saturday night at Citi Field to secure a series victory.
David Peterson, who was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse before the game, tossed six shutout innings and allowed four hits while striking out six. The left-hander improved to 7-3 on the season. Seth Lugo, Trevor May, and Adam Ottavino each fired a scoreless inning in relief.
Brandon Nimmo crushed his 12th home run of the season and smoked an RBI double. Starling Marte drove in a run with a double. Mark Canha also had a nice night at the plate, going 2-for-4.
Max Scherzer will get the ball on Sunday as the Mets will try to sweep the four-game series. The first pitch is slated for 1:40 p.m.
