The New York Yankees reinstated slugger Giancarlo Stanton from the injured list, the team announced Thursday.
In a corresponding move, the team optioned outfielder Estevan Florial to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Stanton went 0-for-7 in a two-game Minor League rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset over the weekend at Bowie. He faced right-hander Luis Severino in a live batting practice session on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium, then went through a full pregame workout
The 32-year-old has not appeared in a Major League game since July 23. Stanton is in Thursday’s lineup for the series opener against the Oakland Athletics, batting third as the DH.
