Mets snap skid with win over Rockies

The New York Mets snapped a two-game skid with a 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies in the series opener on Thursday night at Citi Field.

Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and tossed six innings of one-run ball while striking out nine. Seth Lugo, Edwin Díaz, and Adam Ottavino each fired a scoreless inning in relief.

New York plated all three of their runs in the bottom of the third inning. Francisco Lindor opened the scoring with an RBI groundout. Pete Alonso followed that with a two-run shot to make it 3-0. That was his 31st long ball of the season.

Colorado’s lone run came in the top of the sixth on Ryan McMahon’s solo home run.

Chris Bassitt will get the ball for the Mets on Friday in game two of this four-game series. The first pitch is set for 7:10 p.m.
