The New York Yankees could be getting a huge reinforcement for their bullpen.
The team announced Wednesday that veteran reliever Zack Britton will begin a rehab assignment with the Tampa Tarpons. It will be his first game action in 370 days.
Britton, who is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, has not appeared in a game since last August.
The 36-year-old is in the final year of his four-year, $53 million contract after his club option was picked up. The two-time All-Star joined the Yankees at the 2018 trade deadline and re-signed with the team after that season.
