A Penn Yan man who possessed more than 14,000 images and videos of child pornography faces a lengthy sentence after pleading guilty.
Michael Thompson, 35, pleaded guilty in Yates County Court to several counts of obscenity, possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child, and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child.
District Attorney Tod Cassella said Thompson is scheduled to be sentenced to 4-12 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for October 4.
He was arrested last year by state police. Following his arrest, a grand jury was convened, ultimately indicting him on 23 counts of possession of child pornography.
Thompson has been at the Yates County Jail since his arrest.
