Syracuse Mets infielder Mark Vientos was named International League Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Vientos hit .448 (13-for-29) with two RBIs, three home runs, two doubles, and nine runs scored in six games against the Charlotte Knights from August 15-21. The 22-year-old collected four of the 13 hits in Sunday’s game.
Vientos becomes the fourth Syracuse player to earn a weekly league award this season, joining Daniel Palka, Travis Blankenhorn, and Gosuke Katoh.
