The Rochester Red Wings held on for a 3-2 victory over the Worcester Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at Polar Park to earn a six-game split.
Daniel Ponce de Leon started for Rochester and tossed five shutout and hitless innings while walking four and striking out seven.
Alberto Baldonado surrendered both runs in relief. Connor Sadzeck, Will Harris, Reed Garrett, and Jordan Weems had scoreless appearances.
Andrew Stevenson provided all of the Red Wings’ offense in the top of the third inning as he smacked his 11th home run of the season over the right-field wall.
Both of Worcester’s runs came in the bottom of the sixth on Ronaldo Hernandez’s two-run shot.
The Red Sox put the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth, but the Red Wings were able to turn a game-ending double play.
Rochester will get the day off Monday before they open a six-game series with the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night at Victory field.
