The Rochester Red Wings suffered their second straight walk-off defeat thanks to an RBI single by Worcester’s Ryan Fitzgerald that gave the Red Sox a 9-8 victory on Thursday night at Polar Park.
Rochester led 8-2 after three innings and 8-6 after seven, but Worcester plated a pair of runs in the eighth to tie the game before walking it off in the ninth.
Jake Alu and Riley Adams each drove in two runs to lead the Red Wings’ offense. Andrew Stevenson, Nick Banks, Adrian Sanchez, and Jecksson Flores each chipped in with RBIs. Everyone in the starting lineup had at least a hit, and four players had two-hit games.
Joan Adon started for Rochester and surrendered three runs over four innings while walking five and striking out five.
