Man charged after August 7 murder, says Auburn Police

The Auburn Police Department released information today about a murder that happened earlier this month.

Police say the murder happened just after midnight on August 7.

Officers responded to 49 Grant Avenue for a report of a dead man at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The APD identified the murdered man as Michael Dennison.

The victim had multiple stab wounds, according to WSYR-TV.

Police say that, through an investigation, they discovered an acquaintance of Dennison’s was at his home early August 7.

Police say that acquaintance, Daniel Nachtsheim, 58, was questioned on Wednesday, August 17.

Nachtsheim admitted to killing Dennison, says APD, adding that incriminating evidence was found tying him to the crime.

Nachtsheim was charged with second-degree murder and arraigned at Centralized Arraignment Part Court on the morning of Thursday, August 18.

He was remanded to Cayuga County Jail without bail, say police.
