Syracuse Mets comeback falls short in loss to Charlotte

The Syracuse Mets rallied late but fell short to the Charlotte Knights, 8-7, on Wednesday night at Truist Field. The six-game series is now even at a game apiece.

Connor Grey started for Syracuse and allowed three runs on five hits over 2 2/3 innings while walking one and striking out two.

Dominic Smith and Khalil Lee homered for the Mets, while Patrick Mazeika collected a pair of RBIs. Daniel Palka and J.T. Riddle also chipped in with RBIs. Four players had two-hit games, and everyone in the starting lineup had at least a hit except for Travis Jankowski.

Syracuse will try to bounce back on Thursday with José Butto on the mound. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
