Mets place infielder Eduardo Escobar on injured list

The New York Mets made several roster moves before Wednesday’s game against the Atlanta Braves.

The club placed infielder Eduardo Escobar on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to August 16) with a strained left oblique muscle. Brett Baty, the Mets No. 2 prospect, has officially been called up from Triple-A Syracuse to take his spot on the roster.

Escobar has been dealing with the oblique issue for the last week, but he told reporters he expects to miss the minimum amount of time.

The Mets also recalled left-handed reliever Sam Clay from Triple-A Syracuse and designated right-handed reliever R.J. Alvarez for assignment.
