The New York Yankees fell to the Seattle Mariners, 1-0, in 13 innings on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park. The three-game series is now even at a game apiece.
Jonathan Loáisiga allowed a walk-off single to Luis Torrens with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 13th inning.
Gerrit Cole started on the mound for New York and tossed seven shutout innings while striking out eight.
The Yankees really struggled offensively as they had just three hits and went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. They also had multiple baserunning blunders in extra innings. Aaron Judge, Andrew Benintendi, and Miguel Andújar had the only hits.
New York’s bullpen did an outstanding job, allowing just one run over 5 1/3 innings. Aroldis Chapman, Clay Holmes, Scott Effross, Wandy Peralta, and Lou Trivino all had scoreless appearances.
The Yankees will try to take two of three from the Mariners on Wednesday. Nestor Cortes will get the ball. The first pitch is slated for 4:10 p.m.
