The New York Mets completed a doubleheader sweep of the Atlanta Braves on Saturday with an 8-5 win in the matinee and a 6-2 win in the nightcap.
In the first game, David Peterson started for New York and tossed 5 1/3 shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five. He did walk three batters but was able to escape jams.
Francisco Lindor led the offense with three RBIs, while Starling Marte, Pete Alonso, Daniel Vogelbach, Jeff McNeil, and James McCann all drove in runs as well.
In the second game, Max Scherzer started for the Mets and fired seven shutout innings while striking out 11.
Pete Alonso, Darin Ruf, Mark Canha, Tyler Naquin, and Tomas Nido all collected RBIs.
Jacob deGrom will make his second start of the season on Sunday as the Mets will try to take four of five from the Braves. The first pitch is set for 4:10 p.m.
