First responders were called to a field along Bird Road in Clifton Springs on Thursday for a reported tractor-trailer rollover.

Calls to 911 indicated that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle.

Investigation revealed that the driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as 68-year-old Steven Straight, of Victor, was an employee of Will-O-Crest Farms on County Road 27, hauling a load of manure on Bird Road.

He attempted a left turn into the field where the accident happened- and the vehicle rolled over.

Straight was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Port Gibson, Manchester, and Newark fire departments assisted at the scene, as well as Ontario County Emergency Management, Finger Lakes Ambulance, New York State Police, and OSHA.

Bird Road was closed for several hours during the morning as the investigation unfolded.
