The New York Mets made a couple of roster moves before Thursday’s series opener against the Atlanta Braves.
The team reinstated catcher James McCann from the injured list and optioned Patrick Mazeika to Triple-A Syracuse to make room on the 26-man roster.
McCann missed nearly four weeks with a left oblique strain. The 32-year-old has struggled offensively this season, hitting .183/.250/.293 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 30 games.
McCann is in Thursday’s lineup, batting ninth and catching.
