Direct payments worth up to $1,050 for California residents

More than 20 million taxpayers will receive inflation checks.

However, it may take months before California residents receive the checks.

Child Tax Rebate: Rhode Island families could be eligible for $750

Who is eligible for the payment?

California Governor, Gavin Newsom, signed a new sate budget in June– which included $17 billion in funding for inflation relief checks. California’s Franchise Tax Board said that payments will be distributed between October 2022 and January 2023.

If you are interested in determining your eligibility and amount of rebate, you can use the estimator. The payment is known as the middle-class tax refund, and California is urging residents to see if they qualify. Eligibility and payment amounts are dependent on income, tax filing status, and household size.

In order to qualify for a relief check, California residents must have filed their 2020 tax returns by October 15, 2021. You also must have lived in California for at least six months in 2020, and still reside there. Additionally, anyone claimed as a dependent in 2020 is disqualified from receiving the rebate.

Those who file single or head of household that make less than $75,000 a year, will get $700 if they have a dependent and $350 if they don’t. Those making between $75,000 and $125,000, they will get $500, with a dependent, and $250 without any. People who make over $125,000 will earn $400 with dependents and $200 if they have none.

The figures have been adjusted for couples filing jointly. Couples in California that make less than $150,000 per year, will get $1,050 if they have dependents and $700 if they do not. Those making between $150,001 and $250,000, they will get $750 if they have children, and $500 if they have none. Couples making between $250,001 and $500,000 will get $600 with dependents and $400 if they do not have any.
