Town of Macedon seeing a building boom

The hot new destination for businesses in the Finger Lakes is the town of Macedon in Wayne County.

Commercial marijuana-growing operation coming to former Jindal Films complex

The Finger Lakes Times quotes the town’s building and zoning director Scott Allen as saying several business and residential developments are underway or in the planning stages. One of the biggest developments involves the long-vacant Jindal Films property on Route 31. The 111-acre complex includes three buildings. It formerly housed the ExxonMobil film division. A Georgia developer has purchased the property for $1.4 million and hopes to open a commercial marijuana-growing operation.

Construction of Van Bortel Corvette showroom underway

The Van Bortel Auto Group broke ground earlier this year on a $6 million dollar Corvette showroom on Route 31.

Town officials say Macedon’s proximity to Interstate 490 and easy commute to Rochester make it ripe for development. The increase in development means more traffic on Route 31, the main east-west road through town. The state Department of Transportation says Route 31 will receive new pavement and other improvements in a $3.8 million dollar project set to begin next spring.
