How much is the payment?
Taxpayers in Illinois are set to receive direct payments worth up to $300 in September. The checks are being introduced under the Illinois Family Relief Plan. This plan is designed to provide cash to residents that are struggling to make ends meet. The checks will start being sent on September 12, but could take up to eight weeks to arrive.
How much you’ll receive depends on your filing status, single filers will get $50 and joint filers will receive $100. However, families with dependents can get up to $300. Single taxpayers must make less than $200,000 a year in order to qualify for the rebate.
The Illinois Family Plan will also reduce sales tax on clothing and school items from 6.25% to 1.25% from August 5- 14.
