When will I get the payment?
In January, Social Security recipients were given the cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) since 1982, which was 5.9%.The Social Security Administration (SSA) sends out payments on three different Wednesdays each month. The day of your payment depends on what day you were born. The payment schedule for August is as follows:
- August 10– people with a birth day between the 1st and 10th
- August 17– people with a birth day between the 11th and 20th
- August 24– people with a birth day between the 21st or later
The maximum Social Security payment is $4,194 a month, but the average payment is $1,657.
