The Rochester Red Wings were swept in a doubleheader by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Friday at Frontier Field. Rochester fell 8-6 in the first game before dropping the second game, 10-9. With the loss, the Red Wings have lost nine consecutive contests.
Daniel Ponce de Leon allowed a run over three innings of work for Rochester in Game 1.
Jake Alu and Riley Adams both launched their second home runs of the season for the Red Wings. Josh Palacios drove in a run with a triple, and Ildemaro Vargas plated a run with a single. Chris Herrmann and Joey Meneses chipped in with sacrifice flies.
Reed Garrett and Logan Verrett had scoreless outings in relief.
In Game 2, Josh Rogers started for Rochester and surrendered six runs on eight hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Jake Noll homered twice to lead the Red Wings’ offense while Riley Adams and Jecksson Flores also launched home runs. Ildemaro Vargas and Joey Meneses collected RBIs as well.
Sterling Sharp allowed four runs in relief. Matt Cronin and Jefry Rodriguez had scoreless outings.
The week-long series will continue on Saturday. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
