Police are investigating a shooting that happened in the city of Geneva early Saturday morning.
Around 1:35 a.m. officers responded to the area of North Street, near North Avenue for a report of shots fired.
Upon arrival, they found a 23-year-old who suffered a gunshot wound to his back. A preliminary investigation found that the victim was operating his vehicle on North Street when a white four-door sedan with two black males pulled alongside him and fired several times.
The victim’s vehicle fled the scene, but not before he suffered the gunshot wounds.
The victim, who was not identified, was treated at an area hospital. The wounds are described as not life threatening at this time.
The Geneva Police Department is asking for the public’s help as part of this investigation.
