Mets blank Marlins, 4-0

The New York Mets blanked the Miami Marlins, 4-0, on Saturday night at LoanDepot Park.

Carlos Carrasco started for New York and tossed 7 2/3 shutout innings while striking out seven. The right-hander improved to 11-4 on the season.

The Mets plated two of their four runs in the top of the third inning. Jeff McNeil launched his fifth home run of the season over the center-field wall, and Francisco Lindor drove in a run with a single through the left side.

New York added their other two runs in the top of the eighth. Lindor smacked his 17th home run of the season over the wall in right-center. One batter later, J.D. Davis drilled his fourth homer of the season over the center-field wall to make it 4-0.

Seth Lugo recorded the final four outs of the game for the Mets.

Taijuan Walker will get the ball on Sunday as the Mets go for the three-game sweep of the Marlins. The first pitch is set for 1:40 p.m.
