About the First 1,000 Days Promise

From Boys & Girls Club/Geneva Community Center release:

“After conducting surveys, collecting data and analyzing outcomes, it became clear that the issue of child poverty warranted significant attention. It is in this environment that the Boys & Girls Club of Geneva, in partnership with Geneva 2030, Success for Geneva’s Children – and a number of other health and social service organizations – has launched First 1000 Days.

Working with Geneva 2030’s School Readiness Action Committee, the Boys & Girls Club offers daily services at its 24,000 square foot community center, including Toddler Time, nutrition and health services, parenting support, transportation and family support.

Partner organizations coordinate efforts to meet the targets aimed at re-orienting community resources to apply more focused attention on the first three years of life. These services are available to all families and are tailored to the individual needs and choices of each family.

The goal is to shift from a community that addresses problems when they arise to identifying the sources of problems and offering supportive intervention to help stave off the performance issues appearing in the early school years.”
