Syracuse Mets roll past Omaha, 9-4

The Syracuse Mets rolled past the Omaha Storm Chasers, 9-4, on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium. The six-game series is now even at two games apiece.

Nate Fisher started for Syracuse and tossed 2 2/3 innings while striking out four.

The Mets opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning and jumped out to a big lead. Gosuke Katoh drove in the game’s first run with an RBI triple and later scored on a fielder’s choice. Francisco Alvarez plated a pair of runs with an infield single to make it 4-0. One batter later, Mark Vientos brought home two more with a single to increase the lead to 6-0. Travis Blankenhorn capped off the seven-run inning with a run-scoring single.

Omaha’s first run came in the top of the fourth on a bases-loaded walk. In the bottom of the frame, Katoh smacked his seventh home run of the season over the right-field wall to make it 8-1.

Syracuse added another run in the bottom of the sixth as Blankenhorn launched his 13th home run of the season over the wall in left-center.
