A man who escaped from a New Hampshire correctional facility has been captured in Corning.
That’s what officials are saying about 57-year-old Peter DiBiaso, who was found at a local gas station by members of the Corning Police Department and New York State Police.
The U.S. Marshals Service says DiBiaso was being held on drug and weapons charges since May.
On July 25 around 9 p.m. it was discovered by the local sheriff’s department in New Hampshire that DiBiaso had escaped.
His escape took him through the laundry room exit door at the Belknap County Department of Corrections. He climbed a fence and left the grounds of the jail. He then allegedly stole a car and left the state.
It’s unclear how he wound up in Steuben County. However, authorities say DiBiaso was taken into custody at the Steuben County Jail to await arraignment.
