The New York Yankees snapped a two-game skid with a 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night at Yankee Stadium.
Aaron Judge crushed his Major-League-leading 39th home run of the season over the center-field wall in the bottom of the ninth to give the Yankees the victory. That was his third walk-off home run of the season.
Other than Judge’s home run, the Yankees had just one hit.
Jameson Taillon started for New York and tossed six shutout innings while allowing four hits and striking out eight.
Ron Marinaccio tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the Yankees and Clay Holmes also fired a scoreless inning.
Gerrit Cole will get the ball on Friday as the Yankees will try to take the first two games of the four-game series. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
