The Cato Fire Department is hosting a prescription drug take-back event Wednesday from 4-6 p.m.
Agencies work together to get medications off the street
It’s being hosted in a partnership with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department, Cayuga County Drug-Free Community Coalition, and HEALing Cayuga. HEALing Cayuga will also distribute educational materials on substance abuse.

Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck is thankful for the locations that host the events and the agencies that work with his department to get prescription medications off the street.

County also has medication drop boxes
Residents can drop off their unused prescription medications, no questions asked. They’ll be taken to an incinerator for safe disposal. For those who can’t make this or a similar event, there are also medication drop boxes located throughout the county.
