Syracuse Mets blow late three-run lead in loss to Worcester

The Syracuse Mets blew a late lead and suffered a 10-8 loss to the Worcester Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at Polar Park. Despite the loss, Syracuse still won the series by taking two of three.

Thomas Szapucki started for the Mets and allowed a run over three innings of work. Justin Dillon surrendered four runs in relief while Yennsy Díaz allowed two and Alex Claudio gave up three.

Mark Vientos smacked his 17th home run of the season. Nick Plummer drove in three runs while Kramer Roberston and Deven Marrero each plated three runs.

The Mets will get the day off on Monday before they open a six-game series with the Omaha Storm Chasers on Tuesday night at NBT Bank Stadium.
