The New York Mets made another trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday afternoon.
New York acquired catcher Michael Perez in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced. Infielder Travis Blankenhorn was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for Perez.
The 29-year-old Perez was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Friday.
Over 39 games this season, Perez is hitting .150/.209/.318 with six home runs and 11 RBIs. Through five seasons in the big leagues with the Tampa Bay Rays and Pirates, Perez is hitting .175 with 15 home runs and 58 RBIs.
The move comes just after New York acquired designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach on Friday.
