Mets select Travis Blankenhorn from Triple-A Syracuse

The New York Mets made a roster move ahead of Friday’s series opener against the San Diego Padres at Citi Field.

The team selected the contract of Travis Blankenhorn from Triple-A Syracuse and added him to the 26-man roster. Blankenhorn will take Dominic Smith’s spot on the roster, who was placed on the injured list on July 17 with a right ankle sprain.

Blankenhorn will DH and bat eighth for the Mets on Friday.

The 25-year-old was hitting .276/.340/.479 with 17 doubles, 12 home runs, and eight stolen bases in 71 games at Triple-A Syracuse this season. He was named the International League Player of the Month for June.

Blankenhorn made his Mets debut in 2022 and went 4-for-23 with two doubles and a home run.
