New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton was named the MVP for the 2022 All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night, becoming the first Yankee to earn the award since Mariano Rivera in 2013.
Stanton crushed a 457-foot two-run home run off Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin in the top of the fourth to put the American League on the board and tie the game. He became the first Yankee to hit a game-tying homer in the All-Star Game.
His home run helped lead the American League to a 3-2 victory over the National League. The AL has now won nine consecutive Midsummer Classics.
