State Police arrested an Oneida man after assaulting a runner on a trail.
According to a news release, State Police arrested Shalako T. Simon, 22, of Rome for robbery and tampering with physical evidence.
A 62-year-old man was running along a trail in Lennox when he encountered two aggressive pitbulls off their leash. The runner went behind a tree to avoid being bit and was then confronted by Simon who became upset and grabbed the victim. Simon punched the victim in the face several time before stealing his iPod and headphones. The victim reported the incident to the State Police Headquarters in Oneida and was transported to Oneida Health Care to be treated for injuries he sustained.
Simon was transported to Madison County Jail and is pending arraignment.
