The Firearms Policy Coalition is suing New York over its statewide ban on assault weapons.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court and includes Attorney General Letitia James and State Police Superintendent Kevin Bruen as defendants.
The lawsuit claims that the label ‘assault weapon’ isn’t accurate. It also alleges that a ban on certain semiautomatic weapons is unconstitutional.

It further alleges that semiautomatic firearms have been widely accepted as lawful.
