Rochester Red Wings right-hander Cade Cavalli named International League Pitcher of the Week

Rochester Red Wings right-hander Cade Cavalli has been named the International League Player of the Week.

The Washington Nationals’ top prospect tossed seven shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out seven on July 7 against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Cavalli did not allow a hit until the sixth inning.

The 23-year-old is the first Red Wings pitcher to be named International League Pitcher of the Week since Randy Dobnak was awarded for his July 22-July 28, 2019 performance. Tyler Eppler won Triple-A East Pitcher of the Week honors last year making him the most recent Red Wings pitcher recipient of a league award, despite the one-year hiatus of the International League designation.

Cavalli now joins infielder Luis Garcia as Red Wings who have won International League honors this year with Garcia having won IL Player of the Month honors for April.

Cavalli is 4-3 this season and owns a 4.54 ERA over 67 1/3 innings.
