The first-place New York Mets will have four players that will represent them at the 2022 MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 19.
First baseman Pete Alonso, second baseman Jeff McNeil, outfielder Starling Marte, and closer Edwin Díaz were selected to the National League squad on Sunday. More players from the Mets could be added to the roster as injury replacements.
Alonso will head to his second career All-Star Game. He is hitting .273 with 23 home runs and an MLB-leading 70 RBIs this season.
McNeil will also head to his second career Midsummer Classic. He is hitting .315 this season, which ranks third in the National League.
Marte is an All-Star in his first season with the Mets. He is batting .291 with nine home runs and 40 RBIs this season.
Díaz is an All-Star for the first time since being traded to the Mets in 2019. He has recorded 18 saves with a 1.78 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings this season.
This is the first time that the Mets have had four All-Stars since 2016.
