New York Yankees outfielders Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton have been selected as starters for the American League All-Star team.
Judge was the leading vote-getter in the AL so he had already received a spot in the team’s starting lineup. Stanton edged George Springer of the Toronto Blue Jays for the final spot on Friday. It’s Judge’s fourth All-Star nod and Stanton’s fifth.
Judge entered Friday’s game against the Boston Red Sox batting .283/.362/.981 with 30 homers and 64 RBIs in 81 games.
Stanton entered Friday’s game batting .237/.323/.510 with 21 home runs and 54 RBIs in 69 games.
The 92nd Midsummer Classic will take place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on July 19.
The complete All-Star rosters will be announced during the 2022 Chevrolet MLB All-Star Selection Show on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN.
